Gunman Says He Shot Philadelphia Policeman for IS

A gunman ambushed a police officer who was sitting in his marked car in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Thursday, striking the officer several times in the arm.

The officer managed to fire back, hitting the 30-year-old attacker three times, according to authorities, who also say the suspect ran away but was later apprehended.  The stricken police officer is expected to survive.

Authorities said Friday the suspect claimed to have carried out the attack in the name of Islamic State terror group and that he “follows Allah.”

There was no immediate word on the suspect’s condition.  A still frame picture broadcast Friday showed the suspect approaching the officer’s car at an intersection.
