RFE/RL’s responsive website has been nominated for the sixth annual Lovie Awards, a pan-European competition recognizing outstanding media created for the web.
RFE/RL’s responsive website, which supports 26 languages and is used by audiences in 23 countries where independent media is either banned or not fully established, is a nominee in the category Website News. The website was developed by RFE/RL’s Pangea Team, and was recognized for its eye-catching design and easy navigation. The other nominees in the category are Vice News, The Guardian, and RT.
Nominees and winners are chosen by a panel of industry experts, but voting in the People’s Lovie is open to the public online in all categories here until September 22.
In 2015, a video documentary from RFE/RL’s Russian Service about refugees on both sides of the fighting in eastern Ukraine took the bronze in the Internet Video: Documentary category. In 2014, RFE/RL’s Ukrainian Service’s video “Bird’s-eye View of Euromaidan Protests in Kyiv” won a bronze Lovie award in the category of Internet Video: Events and Live Broadcasting, and the People’s Lovie award.
The Lovie Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) and is the leading European award honoring excellence on the Internet.
