‘Straight Outta Compton,’ A Lightning Rod for Police Brutality

“Straight Outta Compton” is a docudrama about the rise and fall of N.W.A., the music group that revolutionized hip hop and rap. The film chronicles the discontent in Compton, a poor inner city neighborhood of Los Angeles, wedged between gang violence and police abuse… and how hip hop music expressed the black community’s anger and emotions.
