Tiger Remains On the Loose Near Paris

French authorities say the search for a tiger on the loose near Paris will continue Friday.

About 40 kilometers east of Paris in the town of Montevrain, a young tiger was spotted Thursday in the brush about 9 kilometers from Disneyland Paris, but Euro Disney says it has no tigers at the theme park.

Others also reported tiger sightings Thursday, and authorities in the area (Montevrain, Chessy and Chalifert) urged residents to remain indoors.

Officials in Montevrain and Seine-et-Marne said at least 60 police, firefighters and other security personnel participated in the search for the tiger Thursday.

A Montevrain spokesman said an examination of a muddy footprint showed that the tiger weighs about 70 kilograms and is about one and a half years old.
