Coalition forces fighting IS continue to battle for control of Mosul, site of the ancient city of Nineveh. Earlier this year, Syrian pro-government forces recaptured the IS-held city of Palmyra. In both places, archaeological sites of tremendous human importance have been damaged, in some cases beyond repair. But a dedicated group of scientists, armed with computers, and 3-D printers are determined to reconstruct and preserve the ancient sites and their artifacts. VOA’s Kevin Enochs reports.
