Afghan Prisoner Sculpts Hillary Clinton from Stucco and Steel

A prisoner in Afghanistan who says he has been moved by statements from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has sculpted the Democratic presidential front-runner in stucco and steel.

Shir Hussain Hoaida, a 34-year-old tinsmith in jail for selling illegal weapons, told VOA that Clinton’s plea for friendship and brotherhood between Christians and Muslims moved him to make the sculpture.

He said he also has been impressed by her campaign speeches and statements, and hopes she continues to support Afghans if she is elected president.

“Hillary Clinton has defended the values of human rights, freedom of speech, equal rights for humankind and freedom of religion for those who reside in U.S. in all her speeches, and that’s why I love her,” he said.

Hoaida, currently serving the third year of his six-year sentence, told VOA that it took him 30 days to make the sculpture from inside Daikondi province jail.
