Report: US Gains 321,000 Jobs; Unemployment Steady

The U.S. economy had a net gain of 321,000 jobs in November, the highest monthly number in nearly three years.

Friday’s report from the Labor Department also showed the national unemployment rate held steady at a six-year low of 5.8 percent.

That is an improvement of 1.2 percentage points over the past 12 months.  The data also show wages grew slightly last month.

A separate report from the Commerce Department showed the U.S. trade deficit improved slightly in October as the cost of imported oil declined.
