Kerry Defends IS Strategy Before Wary US Lawmakers

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has defended the Obama administration’s plans to combat Islamic State militants in the face of pointed and, at times, contentious questioning from a Senate panel. VOA’s Michael Bowman reports that moments after Kerry spoke, the House of Representatives voted to authorize the training and equipping of moderate opposition forces in Syria to fight the Sunni radical group also known as ISIL or ISIS.
