Indonesian divers have recovered four more bodies from the sea floor, as preparations were being made to use flotation devices to bring the fuselage of the crashed AirAsia jet to the surface.

A member of the recovery team said the bodies were recovered Saturday on the sea floor near the wreckage, which is sitting at the bottom of the Java Sea about 30 meters below the surface.

Strong currents prevented divers from entering the aircraft’s main section until Friday when they recovered six bodies that were still strapped in their seats.

So far, 69 bodies have been recovered from AirAsia Flight 8501, which plunged into the Java Sea with 162 people onboard while en route from Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city, to Singapore.

The jet’s “black boxes” –  the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder – were recovered several days ago.

Indonesian Transport Minister Ignasius Jonan said earlier in the week that the plane climbed abnormally fast before stalling and plunging into the sea.
