Police Make Arrests in Fresh Ferguson Protests

Police in Missouri arrested protesters on Wednesday as they blocked access to a highway near the U.S. city where a white police officer fatally shot an unarmed black teenager last month.

A group of about 150 people gathered at the on-ramp to a major roadway [Interstate 70] close to Ferguson to call for justice in the case of Michael Brown, who died on August 9.

An Associated Press reporter saw at least 12 demonstrators in handcuffs as police dispersed the protest.

Brown’s death triggered weeks of rallies in the streets of Ferguson that at times turned into violent clashes with police. Supporters of the teen have accused law enforcement of institutionalized discrimination against minorities in the area.
